Walking Eco-Tours (Dry)

  • Tour Description: For those who prefer to stay dry, we can take advantage of the vast network of tram roads (dirt/gravel) that were built during the days of cypress logging (1944-1956). Explore and enjoy the beautiful Florida Everglades by taking this three hour walking tour led by an experienced naturalist. This one-of-a-kind tour allows one to observe the uniqueness of the Everglades and the opportunity to learn about its natural history. Be prepared to potentially encounter an array of alluring plants and animals in their natural habitat and learn about how these species impact the environment. Walking these panoramic, scenic trails will be an unforgettable experience.
  • What to wear: Closed-toe shoes. A pair of old sneakers work well
  • What to bring: Day bag/knapsack in order to carry your cameras, drinking water, snacks, bug spray and other extras. Walking sticks provided, but if you have one of your own, please feel free to bring it.
  • You may see: Each and every tour will present unique opportunities. You may come across an endangered orchid in bloom (such as the ghost orchid or the dingy-flowered star), or we may see fresh tracks or scat from an elusive Florida panther or Florida black bear. Encounters with white-tailed deer, red-shouldered hawks, barred owls, pileated woodpeckers, egrets, herons, alligators and water reptiles are always a possibility, and definitely a bonus.

  • Tour Description: Those who are a bit more adventurous may prefer to get their feet wet. One of the best in the Everglades is to be enveloped by the swamp is walking through its’ clear nutrient rich waters knee deep. Explore and enjoy the beautiful Florida Everglades by taking this three hour walking tour led by an experienced naturalist. This one-of-a-kind tour allows one to observe the uniqueness of the Everglades and the opportunity to learn about its natural history. Be prepared to potentially encounter an array of alluring plants and animals in their natural habitat and learn about how these species impact the environment. Walking knee deep through the natural, clear water is the most engaging and interactive way to learn about this ecosystem and enjoy an unforgettable experience.

  • Tour Description: Launching from Marco Island/Goodland’s Calusa Island Marina, a naturalist guide will lead this personalized, engaging tour of the 10,000 Islands. Guests will enjoy a learning tour about the Everglades ecosystems, history and culture. Guests may encounter some of Southwest Florida’s finest creatures such as manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, alligators, ospreys, and so much more. Alongside the naturalist guide, seine nets are used to collect various samples of unique sea creatures. Upon collecting these beautiful critters, they will be observed and identified before being released back into their natural habitat. It’s a fun and engaging way for guests to learn about the Everglades’ ecosystem and residents!
  • You may see: Manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles, ospreys, herons, egrets, pelicans, alligators, roseate spoonbills and/or numerous species of fish and shorebirds.

 


Everglades Grand Heritage & Birding Excursion

  • Tour Description: Enjoy the entire day exploring the 10,000 islands, the Everglades Tidal Rivers and Flats, the Wilderness Waterway, Mangrove Creeks and Tunnels, Everglades National Park, and Coastal Island Beaches on the Everglades Grand Heritage Tour. This tour includes boating, kayaking, and walking the trails of some of the most exotic and historical locations in the Everglades. Several stops will be made throughout the day to explore these historic locations and take a rest in between parts of the trip. Guests are welcomed to bring along lunch and refreshments to enjoy a fun, scenic picnic in some of the Everglades most remote, historic areas.

Bicycle Eco-Tours

  • Tour Description: The Everglades is a gorgeous, pristine panorama, surrounded by a plethora of plants and exotic species. Enjoy the scenic view and tour by riding a bicycle through this unique setting. This is a guided interpretive experience in an area that hosts a wide array of habitats and forest types from the wetter swamps and prairies to the drier islands of tropical hardwood hammocks and pine rock lands. This tour includes all the equipment necessary, including geared bicycles, water, binoculars, and snacks. The Naturalist Guide will lead you to the several hidden gems in the area that will create memories for a lifetime. It’s a fun and unique experience where you can learn about the Everglades and the beautiful qualities it has to offer.
  • You may see: Florida panther, Black bear, deer, otters, bobcat, alligators, turkey, boar, mink, unusual birds and beautiful butterflies. Rare and endangered plants such as native orchids, tropical flowering trees, giant ferns, fruit trees, towering palms, rare hardwood trees, herbs and bromeliads.

 


Manatee Eco-Tour

  • Tour Description: This scenic ECO-Tour is fully narrated by a knowledgeable Captain where you’ll learn interesting facts on the history of the area and the unique wildlife you’ll encounter. This tour includes viewing the protected West Indian Manatee, and the estuaries of the 10,000 Islands National Wildlife Refuge to observe the wildlife inhabiting the largest mangrove forest in the United States and western hemisphere. On this tour, you will likely see alligators, dolphins, turtles, and many rare and endangered tropical birds. Bottled water is provided, and we encourage you to feel free to bring snacks or beverages, as well as your sandals, cameras, sunscreen and polarized sunglasses. A relaxing way to feel the “soul” of the Everglades and learn about the history in a fun, engaging way.
  • What to wear: Sandals or flip flops and polarized sunglasses to help view the manatees.
  • What to bring: Bottled water is provided, but encourage you to bring any other snacks or beverages you would like. We also suggest bringing a camera.
  • You may see: Manatees, alligators, dolphins, and turtles, as well as many species of rare and endangered tropical birds. Some of the tropical birds species include the Ibis, Egret, Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Pelican, and the American Bald Eagle.

 


Airboat Ride

  • Tour Description: Explore the pristine Florida Everglades on a state-of-the-art airboat with comfortable cushioned seats, and an experienced Airboat Guide will take you deep into a 200 acre preserve of the Everglades to see exotic animal and plant life, rare species of birds and alligators. You’ll visit and explore both waterways and marshlands, down paths and around ponds, where you’ll have the chance to observe a slice of nature that most people only see in pictures. For those with sensitive hearing, comfortable noise blocking headphones are available upon request to reduce the sound of the airboat motor by 75%. Airboats are safety-checked every morning, and are stocked with life jackets for every passenger. This unique tour is offered by Corey Billies Airboat Rides.

  • Tour Description: This one-of-a-kind tour allows you to observe and photograph native subtropical wildlife up-close as nature allows and all from the safety of a swamp buggy. Allowing up to six guests per buggy, the drivers will personalize your experience and fit your every needs. There is no limit when it comes to making stops. Venture safely into the Everglades’ Big Cypress National Preserve without getting your feet wet! If you do wish to get off the swamp buggy and walk around, please wear protective footwear that you don’t mind getting wet. The whole family will love it! Water, ice, bug repellant, and light rain ponchos are provided. You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages. Lunch is provided upon request.
