FORT MYERS BEACH, FLORIDA – May 19, 2009 – SunStream Hotels & Resorts, a portfolio of unique condominium resorts in Southwest Florida, is pleased to support VISIT FLORIDA®’S “Share a Little Sunshine” campaign. Share a Little Sunshine is a statewide, resident-driven, tourism industry-inspired, grassroots effort with the potential to infuse much needed revenue into Florida’s economy. The campaign includes viral videos and an e-vite that empowers Florida residents to do their part in helping Florida’s economy by getting back to what matters most – spending time with friends and family.
All you have to do is visit ShareaLittleSunshine.org, watch a rally video featuring everyday Floridians promoting their own “Share a Little Sunshine” message and then select one of the three free video invitations (family, friends, and romance) and email it to friends and family. In less than two minutes, Florida residents can help the state we love so much. And as a special thank you, those who send invitations will be entered to win one of 12 great Florida getaways.
Tomorrow is Earth Day and in honor and support, SunStream Hotels & Resorts is donating a team of employees to help clean up Fort Myers Beach. On Wednesday, April 22, 2009 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, a team of employees will pick up trash and clean up a stretch of San Carlos Boulevard – the gateway to Fort Myers Beach. We’re looking for additional volunteers to join us and meet at Pincher’s Crab Shack, located at 18100 San Carlos Boulevard, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931. Bottled water and trash bags will be provided by SunStream and all we ask is that volunteers bring a pair of gloves or a trash picker if they have one. Let’s keep Fort Myers Beach green and beautiful! See you in the morning!
Background on Earth Day: Earth Day, celebrated on April 22, is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment. It is held annually during both spring in the northern hemisphere and autumn in the southern hemisphere. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in 1970 and is celebrated in many countries every year. Earth Day 2009 will mark the beginning of The Green Generation CampaignTM which will also be the focus of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day in 2010.
