Oil Spill Update – July 1st

July 1st, 2010
Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill

Oil Spill in relation to our beautiful Southwest Florida Beaches

What are your plans this 4th of July? Don’t let fear of the oil stop you from visiting the beautiful beaches of Southwest Florida. Our beaches are as clean and as beautiful as ever!

In a recent article published by the NOAA, there have been no confirmed observations of oil from the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill near South Florida. Our Southwest Florida Beaches are 600 miles from the wellhead. If a significant amount of surface oil were to enter the Loop Current and begin to move toward the Florida Straits, responders would be able to see it, predict its movement, notify states and coastal communities, and help guide preparedness, response and cleanup efforts.

Still not convinced? Check out our live webcams at DiamondHead Beach Resort & Spa in Ft. Myers Beach:

SunStream has also issued a Clean Beach Guarantee:

SunStream’s Clean Beach Guarantee promises that our Hotels & Resorts located in Southwest Florida will be oil and tar free during our guests stay. In the unlikely event that the beaches of Lee & Collier County are officially closed by Federal, State or Local authorities or if health conditions are compromised, SunStream has made a decision to take a proactive step in alleviating guest concern.

If the beaches become threatened during your stay and you wish to leave, you will be entitled to a prorated refund for the remaining nights of your stay or the ability to rebook within 2 years of your cancellation date with no penalties.

If the official closure takes place within 72 hours of your stay, SunStream will offer a full refund of room fees, taxes and resort fee if applicable, or you can rebook your stay anytime within 2 years of your cancellation date with no penalties.

At SunStream we are committed to creating memorable experiences and fulfilling even the unexpressed wishes of those we serve. We understand there are many options when making a decision as to where to take your next vacation and are thankful you have chosen to experience all that SunStream’s fine Hotels & Resorts have to offer.

Radio duo acknowledged for connecting Cape Coral and Fort Myers

June 30th, 2010

Radio duo acknowledged for connecting Cape Coral and Fort MyersCape Coral recently celebrated its 40th anniversary as a city, and the city is taking this time to thank those who participated in its rapid growth. So while you are vacationing at a Cape Coral beach resort, tune into the radio to hear two of the people who influenced that growth.

The 96 K-Rock personalities Mark Haney and Stan Nawalaniec played a pivotal role in Cape Coral’s history in 1997, reports newspress.com. Their participation in the Midpoint Memorial Bridge Festival, which celebrated the 1.4 mile road that connects the city to Fort Myers, lead to bigger and better things for both the city and their show.

It was the first time that the duo had broadcast their show in the afternoon, reports the news source, and during their new time slot they were called up to lead Roger Butler, former mayor of Cape Coral, to the top of the bridge where he then met with former Fort Myers mayor, Bruce Gady.

The radio hosts were able to narrate the whole ceremony live, with the two radio personalities from Fort Myers.

“It opened the door for Fort Myers and Cape Coral to join together,” Butler told the news source. “Mayor Grady came over here, and I went and spoke on his side about how we could join forces.”
