One of my absolute favorite vacation songs is Margaritaville followed up by Rum and Coca Cola. (Yes, I swear, there is such a song).
“Better Together” or anything by Jack Johnson!
My favorite vacation song is “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems” by Kenny Chesney, since my vacations always include the BEACH!
My favorite vacation song is : “I can see clearly now the rain is gone”
Our family vacation song is “Kokomo” by the Beach Boys. Before we moved to FL permanently, we’d always play it as a vacation “psych up”. Now, when we hear it, it reminds us of our last family vacation to Ft. Myers Beach with our late daughter, and we feel it is another gift from her. Gifts like that makes us smile.
If it’s somewhere warm, it’s got to be Bob Marley! I like them all!
My favorite vacation song is “Vacation” by the GoGo’s. I Love the GoGos and I that song always get me going and dreaming of a vacation.
When I think of a great vacation it reminds me of “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin. That’s certainly the way we felt during our visit to Fort Myers Beach last year during a vacation of a lifetime…we left behind job and school worries and had a great time in Florida making beautiful memories. We’ll be back soon!
Got to go with “Some Beach” by Blake Shelton! I’m thinking Cowboy hat and a cold beer in my hand.
“Some Beach” by Blake Shelton, Just about sums it up after a long hard winter in New England
A trip to Ft Myers Beach is a home away from home, even though it’s only about 20 minutes from my house. We’ve spent nights at SunStream relaxing and enjoying the weekend, even though we knew work was to come again on Monday.
Driving onto the beach and laying in the sun reminds me of “It’s My Lazy Day” by Tennessee Ernie Ford (take a listen, it’s remarkable)
“It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere”, by Alan Jackson! Or as my husband would say on vacation “it’s 4 o’clock, or 3 o’clock or even noon when on vacation!!
Whether away on a caribbean vacation or at home, the song “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz will melt away your stress and will have you picturing yourself on a beach with a margarita in your hand in no time…
The perfect vacation tune to listen to on a sunny day in paradise!
Three Little Birds: Bob Marley
The perfect vacation song–”Dont worry, about a thing, ’cause every little things going to be allright”
“When the sun goes down” by Kenney Chesney… 3 more days till “the sun and the sand and a drink in my hand”!!!!
I like to listen to “Summertime” by Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff. There is no better summer song.
I’m going to veer away from the typical vacation songs and go with “Fields of Gold” by Sting…it always reminds me of summers in upstate NY, all of the hay fields against the backdrop of the mountains. It used to be my home, but now it’s become my vacation destination. Except for winters…
vaction’s all I ever wanted…
We live in england – where the sun doesnt shine like it does in Florida!!
A song that always make me sing along and will hopefully resemble my forthcoming holiday to your beautifull country is ‘Club Tropicana’ by Wham. Just really cannot wait until September!
Sky Blue by Peter Gabriel
I love the “Coconut” song by Harry Nilssen
Brother bought a coconut, he bought it for a dime
His sister had another, she paid it for a lime.
She put the lime in the coconut, and drank them both up
She put the lime in the coconut, and drank them both up
She put the lime in the coconut, Called the doctor, woke him up, and said, “Doctor, ain’t there nothin’ I can take, I say, Doctor, to relieve this belly ache?
I say, Doctor, ain’t there nothin’ I can take, I say, Doctor, to relieve this belly ache?”
“Now let me get this straight;
You put the lime in the coconut, you drank them both up
You put the lime in the coconut, you drank them both up
You put the lime in the coconut, called your doctor,
woke him up, and said, ‘Doctor, ain’t there nothing I can take, I say,
Doctor, to relieve this belly ache? I say, Doctor, ain’t there nothin’ I can take,
I say, Doctor, to relieve this belly ache?’
You put the lime in the coconut, and drink them both down,
You put the lime in the cocount, you’re such a silly woman!
Put the lime in the coconut, and drink them both together,
Put the lime in the coconut, and call me in the morning.”
Back in college the official vacation or break song was “Summer time” by Sublime! It is still one of my favorites and I always play it on the first warm weekend of the spring/summer! Its a good song to just lay back and relax to.
We visit FM Beach every year in February and in 2008 Septemebr as well.
I am about to lose my job like a lot of other Canadians & Americans so not sure when the next trip will be. Love to lunch at Beach Pierside Grill and listen to live music singing “Margarittaville” by Jimmy Buffet.
My favorite song for a day on the Beach in Florida would be Beach Boys Good Viberations
My Favorite Song is Vacation by the Go Go’s it is a timeless song that makes all listeners happy:
Vacation
Go Gos
Can’t seem to get my mind off of you
Back here at home there’s nothin’ to do
Now that I’m away
I wish I’d stayed
Tomorrow’s a day of mine that you won’t be in
When you looked at me I should’ve run
But I thought it was just for fun
I see I was wrong
And I’m not so strong
I should’ve known all along that time would tell
A week without you
Thought I’d forget
Two weeks without you and I
Still haven’t gotten over you yet
CHORUS
Vacation
All I ever wanted
Vacation
Had to get away
Vacation
Meant to be spent alone
A week without you
Thought I’d forget
Two weeks without you and I
Still haven’t gotten over you yet
Bob Marley is definately our fav vacation music. In the crazy real world we don’t hear much of him. Being by the sunny pool or on the beach and away from the real world with the tropical relaxation his music brings, a drink in one hand combined with a hand shake of some new found and fun friends in the other just makes the escape worth every penny and all the hard work it took us to get there!
Red red wine, by UB40.
Jimmy’ Buffet’s “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes.” Heading south to the sunshine certainly improves my attitude!
For me, it has to be the Beach Boys. As a kid, I spent every summer at the beach in Old Lyme, Connecticut — the WHOLE summer. Heaven. I was there when most of the Beach Boys songs came out. My favorite for vacation is “Wouldn’t It Be Nice.”
The song that puts me in vacation mode would have to be Bob Marley “Could You Be Loved”…
Nothing says vacation time more then that song blasting, my girl by my side and a frozen pina colada in a coconut shell!!!!
in the bible in the book of job, god speaks of how he made the shore and the waves, and how it stops right on the beach…job 38, 8-11…my favorite song was by connie frances, about as old as the beaches themselves, “v-a-c-a-t-i-o-n”, i sing it as i am flying over florida ready to land!!!
Cheeseburger in Paradise and many other Jimmy Buffet songs just fit.
My vote would go to “Kokomo” by the Beach Boys. That song takes me back to my childhood, the perfect beach song.
Isla Bonita by Madonna describes Florida beaches they are beautiful and the music is the flavor of Florida with it’s latin beat.
Everythings Coming Up Roses from the Broadway show Gypsy seems to sum up a day at the beach. Who could not love Ft. Myers Beachand Point Estero?
Van Morrison – Moon Dance
Sets a scene; changes a mood
I visit Gullwing at Fort Meyers Beach every year and love every minute of it. When I have to leave all I can think about is returning the next year—so my song would have to be “Time of My Life” by David Cook.
Holiday by Madonna
Summer Breeze released in 1972 by Seals and Crofts , I was only 12 years old back then and wanted so much to get on a beach and feel the breeze . Living in Canada for all my life , I remember the warmth and smile this song brought to my heart and soul .I now go back to Florida with my family from time to time for our summer vacations ,the song still plays in my mind as I look out into the gulf sea and walk the sidewalks of Naples .We will be back to feel the summer breeze in July 2009 , staying at the Bella Sera .
Summer Breeze .
See the curtains hangin’ in the window
In the evening on a friday night
A little light-a-shinin’ through the window
Lets me know everything’s all right
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin’ through the jasmine in my mind
See the paper layin’ on the sidewalk
A little music from the house next door
So I walk on up to the door step
Through the screen and across the floor
Sweet days of summer – the jasmine’s in bloom
July dressed up and playing her tune
And I come home from a hard day’s work
And you’re waitin’ there
Not a care in the world
See the smile awaitin in the kitchen
Food cookin’ and the plates for two
Feel the arms that reach out to hold me
In the evening when the day is through
Jimmy Buffet’s “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere”
Anything by Jimmy Buffet. Great summer music and easy listening>
Our favorite song is Kokomo by the Beach Boys. Its been our favorite song since we first visited Fort Myers Beach. Last year when we bought our time share at Diamond Head it made the song mean even more, because now we have our little place like Kokomo.
“Don’t Worry, Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin.
We went there in Dec. for my 70th birthday. Such a great gift. We are raising our 4 grandchildren and it was the first time we had a break away.
Loved it. No stress
Better Together by Jack Johnson.
“On the coast of somewhere beautiful” by Kenny Chesney.
We can’t wait to celebrate in Fort Myers beach in May!!!
First time we took our kids to Florida was Christmas Day 1991. As we listened to “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby on the radio and saw palm trees with white lights, I realized it’s always summertime in Florida.
This was written & sung by Paul Simon. Really fun & lighthearted! I always take my Nikon camera with me (almost) everywhere!
KODACHROME
When I think back
On all the crap I learned in high school
It’s a wonder
I can think at all
And though my lack of edu—cation
Hasn’t hurt me none
I can read the writing on the wall
Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world’s a sunny day, Oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
If you took all the girls I knew
When I was single
And brought them all together for one night
I know they’d never match
my sweet imagination
everything looks WORSE in black and white
Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world’s a sunny day, Oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome
Leave your boy so far from home
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome
Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
It would have to be Kokomo by the Beach Boys! If you close your eyes-you feel like you are there!
Any Jack Johnson or Dave Matthews song.
Summer isn’t summer until the radio stations constantly play Sheryl Crow’s Soak Up The Sun!
